Corruption Complaint Filed Against President Trump With Inspector General

On January 19, 2017, J. Whitfield Larrabee filed a complaint against President Trump describing conflicts of interest, nepotism, self-dealing and other corruption related to the Old Post Office Building, a property owned by the United States Government. The property is leased by the General Services Administration to President Trump’s company, Trump Old Post Office LLC. The complaint was filed with the Inspector General of the GSA and it concerns President Trump’s violation of an anti-corruption provision in the lease prohibiting elected officials from benefiting from the lease. It also concerns President Trump’s violation of conflict of interest clauses in the Constitution of the United States that prohibit his acceptance of emoluments from the United States, the States and foreign governments. The violations relate to President Trump’s operation and ownership of the Trump International Hotel in the Old Post Office building.
