Current Employee Settles Sexual Harassment Case For $140,000

SEXUAL HARASSMENT SETTLEMENT REPORT

An assistant manager at one of the largest corporations in the United States discharged her attorney who was not agressively pursuing her case and hired J. Whitfield Larrabee.

Our client contended that her supervisor told sexual jokes, asked sexual questions, demanded sexual favors, leered at women and used vulgar language on a daily basis. The supervisor denied all of our clients allegations, except that he admitted that he occasionally used vulgar language. Mr. Larrabee methodically investigated the case and developed extensive corroborating evidence that our client had been sexually harassed by her supervisor. Through our investigation, we located at least three corroborating witnesses.

Due to the stress of working in this environment, our client took a medical leave on the recommendation of her psychiatrist. She had been diagnosed as suffering from situational anxiety and anxiety disorder triggered by her work environment.

After extensive litigation, we secured a settlement for the client of $140,000. Our client transferred to another department, continued in her employment and received a letter of apology from the company. Her first attorney had recommended settling the case in the range of $30,000 to $70,000.
