VISION

J. Whitfield Larrabee is a trial and appellate lawyer whose practice focuses on civil rights, constitutional litigation and ballot measures. His work is directed toward protecting individual rights and liberties, challenging unlawful conduct by government and other powerful institutions, and helping individuals and organizations use the initiative and referendum process to advance significant public interests.

In his civil rights practice, Mr. Larrabee is focused on cases involving violations of the First Amendment, abuses of governmental authority, misconduct by federal immigration officers, invasions of privacy, deprivations of individual liberty, election and political law, and other substantial questions involving constitutional and statutory rights. He is especially interested in matters that can clarify important legal principles, restrain unlawful exercises of power, or protect rights extending beyond the immediate parties to a dispute.

In his ballot-measures practice, Mr. Larrabee assists citizens and organizations working to enact state laws and constitutional amendments on matters of broad public concern through initiative petitions and referendums. He is particularly interested in promoting measures that address environmental degradation, the climate crisis, persecution of immigrants, inequitable distribution of wealth, unfair elections, unhealthy food and chronic disease, and cruelty to animals.

Mr. Larrabee is guided by a vision of society in which individual liberty is protected, government and powerful institutions are accountable under the law, democracy is robust and prosperity is broadly shared. He envisions a world where people, animals and the Earth are thriving.
